Postdoctoral Positions Available

Two postdoctoral positions are available for energetic, hard-working individuals to investigate methyl-CpG protein recognition of DNA and protein targets in cancer. The proteins under investigation have high disease relevance in that they are up-regulated in a number of cancers in a manner that correlates with disease aggressiveness. Current projects involve coupling in vitro biophysical and in cell genomics methods to identify binding partners, structurally characterize these interactions, and delineate how these binding events translate to transcriptional responses in the disease state.

The first postdoctoral position centers on structural and biophysical interrogation of these proteins in complex with their biological targets. As such, qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or related discipline with extensive prior experience in protein and/or nucleic acid structural elucidation (preferably by NMR and/or X-ray crystallography, though additional experience with other structural biology techniques is welcome). Experience with protein expression and purification as well as other core biophysical methodologies would be an advantage.

The second postdoctoral positions will focus on in cell interrogations for how this family of MBPs read epigenetic marks and translate this into a specific transcriptional outcome in the disease state. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and have extensive experience with standard biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology techniques/methodologies. Experience with ChIP, high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analysis is preferred.

Highly motivated candidates should submit a cover letter and CV including names and contact information for three references to: bethany.buck@utah.edu.
