Announcing the Second Annual Chemistry Graduate Research Symposium

Week of Tuesday, February 22, 2022

Join us for the second annual Chemistry Department Graduate Research Symposium (GRS)! The symposium will begin on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, and run through the remainder of the week. Presented by ChemSAC, Synthesis Club, the Curie Club, and IBAC, this symposium serves to connect all students in the department for professional development, networking, and an opportunity for students to present their research to prospective students, colleagues, and alumni. 

The symposium will feature more than 30 talks from graduate students, including 20 minute live (in-person) seminars and 5 minute pre-recorded talks. For detailed information about the research that will be featured at the GRS, follow the link to the schedule below:

GRS Networking Events

The 2022 GRS will have three networking Q&A sessions at 6 PM MST on Tuesday-Thursday, February 22-25. Current University of Utah students and postdocs are invited to attend the virtual Q&A sessions:

Tuesday, Feb. 22: Teaching in your Career Nate Bruender (St. Cloud University), Sarah Cummings (University of Nevada, Reno), Michelle Rasmussen (Lebanon Valley College), Clifton Sanders (Salt Lake Community College)

Wednesday, Feb. 23: Research in your Career Ana Bahamonde (University of California, Riverside), Anna Hiszpanski (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory), Cady Lancaster (Oregon State University), Matthew (Shuai) Xu (Biolinq)

Thursday, Feb. 24: Alternative Careers in Chemistry Micheal Cooper (Seed IP), Paul Gabrielsen (U of U Science writer), Sonja Krane (ACS Publishing)  


GRS events will be live-streamed for people wishing to attend virtually (link in schedule). We encourage all University of Utah Chemistry graduate students, post doctoral researchers, faculty, alumni, and admitted students to attend!
