Professor Whittaker-Brooks participates in the Faculty Fellowship Program in Israel
Professor Whittaker-Brooks participated in the Faculty Fellowship Program in Israel from May 27 – June 9. Prof. Whittaker-Brooks traveled throughout Israel, meeting Israeli professors from her respective discipline and with the same or similar research interests – all with the goal of developing collaborations, research projects, co-authoring articles, and establishing exchange programs between faculty and students.
Through the support of Jewish National Fund-USA’s Boruchin Center and individual donors, the tour, in which more than 600+ have already taken part, is a fully paid intensive program to visit Israel for full-time U.S.-based academics from recognized universities/learning institutions.
Jewish National Fund-USA also runs the annual Caravan for Democracy Student Leadership Mission to Israel, where 80 college students travel to Israel in December/January, a Winter Faculty Fellowship Program in Israel, and a host of other trips and missions.
“This was by far the best cultural and professional experience I have ever participated in as a faculty member,” said Professor Whittaker-Brooks. She continued, “Israel research institutions and universities are top in the world, and I was able to experience why. Faculty members are developing groundbreaking technologies in energy, sustainability, and quantum electronics, which will improve our quality of life. From a cultural aspect, Israel is a country that is rich in history and breathtaking geographical sites.
I would like to thank the Jewish National Fund-USA for sponsoring this life-changing program! I strongly encourage students and faculty to apply for this wonderful experience.”
For undergraduate students, the deadline for participating in the Caravan for Democracy Student Leadership Mission to Israelis is June 30. The application for the faculty fellowship program will open early in the fall.
