Riley Giesler

About Me: I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As an undergraduate, I worked in an organic chemistry lab doing primarily enzymatic studies with a healthy dose of organic synthesis, so I like to tip-toe the line between chemistry and biology. My hobbies outside of lab include skiing, hiking, climbing, and making fun of other members of the group (mostly Misael).

Research: I am currently working on developing new methodologies for directed enzymatic evolution using DNA aptamers as a high throughput readout system. I am also working on developing a system to detect and quantify small metabolites that bind proteins in human serum.
