  • November 14, 2023: Aric wins an EAS Undergraduate Student Research Award at the Eastern Analytical Symposium in Plainsboro, NJ! Congratulations Aric!
  • October 10, 2023: Maran wins an FACSS Student Poster Award at SciX in Reno! Congratulations Maran! 
  • October 8, 2023: Clista wins the 2023 SAS Undergraduate Student Award! Congratulations Clista! 
  • April 20, 2023: At the Chemistry Department Awards Program, several of the lab members were honored:  Dawson won a Walter D. & Grace G. Bonner Memorial Award, Dawson won the ACS Physical Division Award, Maran won a Leon Watters Memorial Award,  Aric won the College of Science Dean’s Scholarship, Clista won a the College of Science Promise Scholarship and the Department of Chemistry Tuition Benefit Scholarship, and Aric won the Ted Eyring Undergraduate Scholarship, and finally Grant was the winner of the highest honor given by the department for an outstanding Ph.D. dissertation: Cheves Walling Graduate Research Award.  Congratulations all! What an afternoon!

  • March 23, 2023: Maran Sardoni joins the lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant.  Welcome Maran!

  • November 3, 2022:  Miharu passes her Ph.D. Proposal Exam and is now officially a Ph.D. Candidate!  Congratulations Miharu!
  • August 12, 2022:  Aric Potter wins the SAS Undergraduate Student Award!  Congratulations Aric!!
  • August 11, 2022: Grant successfully defends his PH.D. Dissertation! Congratulations, Dr. Myres!!
  • May 5, 2022:  Isaac graduates with a B.S. in Chemistry!  Congratulations Isaac!
  • April 28, 2022:  Miharu passes her Ph.D. Pre-Oral Exam!  Congratulations Miharu!
  • April 20, 2022:  At the Chemistry Department Awards Program, several of the lab members were honored:  Clista won a Departmental Tuition Scholarship, Aric won the Ted Eyring Undergraduate Scholarship, Grant was the inaugural winner of the Joel Harris Graduate Summer Fellowship, and Jay was recognized with a 5-year Staff Service Award.  Congratulations all!  It was quite an afternoon!
  • April 7, 2022:  Clista presents her research at NCUR, the 2022 National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
  • March 23, 2022:  Aric, Clista, Grant, Isaac, Jay, and Miharu all give presentations on their research at the Spring 2022 National ACS Meeting.  The meeting was a hybrid, and Grant traveled to San Diego and presented in person.
  • October 14, 2021: Joel makes the 2021 Analytical Scientist Power List
  • September 28, 2021: Jay is honored at FACSS/SciX with the inaugural Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) Presidential Service Award. Congrats Jay!

  • April 5, 2021: Jay gives a talk at the Spring National ACS Meeting in a Symposium on Biomaterials and Biointerfaces, which he chaired.
  • March 9, 2021: Grant gives a talk at PittCon with a cute title, “Surface Enhanced-Area Raman Spectroscopy (SEARS) for Label-Free DNA Biosensing in Porous Silica Supports.”
  • November 24, 2020: Miharu Koh joins the lab as a Graduate Student joint with Shelley Minteer. Welcome Miharu!
  • October 29, 2020: Based on their SciX/FACSS poster awards, Allison and Grant give invited talks in the SAS/Metrohm Groundbreaking Spectroscopy Research Virtual Symposium.
  • October 12, 2020: Grant and Allison win the SAS Poster Competition at SciX/FACSS!  They were two of the four winners out of more than 80 poster entries.
  • May 6, 2020: Eric R. defends his MS project and completes his BS/MS Program. Congrats Eric!
  • April 29, 2020: Grant successfully defends his research proposal and advances to Ph.D. Candidacy.
  • April 21, 2020: As a graduating senior, Allison wins the ACS Division of Physical Chemistry Undergraduate Award, the Senior Comprehensive Exam Prize, and the American Institute of Chemists Award. Congrats Allison!
  • April 21, 2020: Alex wins U of U Department of Chemistry Undergraduate Research Scholarship. Congrats Alex!
  • March 1-2, 2020: Alex, Allison, Eric R., Grant, Jay, and Maryam present their research at PittCon in Chicago.
